Principal's Message

Dear Sierra Families,

On behalf of the Sierra Elementary staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year.  I hope you’ve all had time to relax and enjoy family life these past two months and are now eager and excited to begin a new school year.  I’m pleased to welcome all of our new Kindergarten students as they begin their educational careers here at Sierra Elementary, as well as any new families that are joining us.  I’m sure you will find the Sierra school community a warm and welcoming place.  It is always so wonderful to see all of our returning friends as well - WELCOME BACK!

One of our goals at Sierra Elementary is to provide a school environment where your children will be safe, happy and work to their fullest potential.  This year promises to be a busy one and we want to keep you as informed as possible. Make sure to check our website and calendar frequently.  The calendar will be updated throughout the year, but already has many of the school-wide events listed on the home page. Additionally, we send out our school newsletter, Shark News, almost every Friday afternoon. It will come from the email address "broadcasts@schoolmessengermail.com" so please be sure that email address is not blocked so that you don't miss out on any important information. Our teachers also communicate regularly with parents through email and classroom web pages. You’ll find links to the newsletter and teacher websites on this website as well.

As we start the year, it is important that we maintain our safe and efficient drop-off/pick-up procedures, which were put into place last year.  You will be sent home with a paper copy and map of these procedures in your first day packet.  You can also read about them on our website or by clicking HERE.  The most important expectations to remember include: establishing a pick-up spot after school and making sure your child knows to head straight there at the bell, driving slowly in our parking lots, remaining calm and focused, and remembering that students are only allowed to load on the curb side of the loading zone.  Please remember to stay in your car when in the loading zones.  Cars should not be left unattended in these areas.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at (916) 788-7141.

Welcome, or welcome back, and GO SHARKS!!

Your Sierra principal,
Amy Westberg
